Come and visit the delightful tasting market at the CULINARIUM ALPINUM, the former Capuchin monastery in Stans. Around 50 producers will be offering a wide variety of products from the Alpine region. Many of these products are entered in the ALP’26 competition.

At CULINARIUM ALPINUM, the Alpine nations of Switzerland, Italy and Austria showcase their culinary diversity. Visitors gain an insight into the wide range of culinary products on offer, and the exhibition highlights just how diverse and varied the Alpine region is, as well as the importance of preserving the Alps’ culinary heritage.

Information for visitors
A warm welcome to the tasting market at CULINARIUM ALPINUM
On Saturday and Sunday, 7 and 8 November 2026, the premises of the former monastery will be transformed into a large, bustling market. Regional products from the Alpine region will be on display. Do come along, enjoy what’s on offer and stock up on local specialities and delicacies. Admission is free.
Figures from the Alpine region
Stretched sausages have a long tradition. In the past, sausages were stretched with cabbage, potatoes or bread due to a shortage of meat. Today, there are over 60 varieties of stretched sausage that are popular specialities.
From Tomme de Savoie to Sbrinz, made from goat’s or cow’s milk, or sometimes a mixture of both, there are over 2,500 different types of cheese in the Alpine region. They are matured for varying lengths of time, are sometimes flavoured, or even melt better.
Wild thyme, savory and sage are common ingredients in many traditional Alpine spice blends. Together with all the other species that have been forgotten, cultivated or even regarded as weeds, the Alps are home to more than 2,000 edible plants.
